Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer in-person and virtual sessions?

My practice is hybrid. Both in-office and virtual sessions are available to meet the expressed needs of clients.

Do you accept insurance as payment for the session fees?

I do not accept insurance at this time.  Most of my clients choose to not involve their insurance provider in their treatment.  Here are some of the advantages:

  -  You won’t have a diagnosis label permanently attached to your health record.

  -  Your records are protected, which means all information about you, including very personal information, cannot be obtained by the insurance company.

  -  Your care is not dictated by the insurance company, but by the collaborative efforts formed by my professional expertise and your personal preferences and goals.

I will gladly provide you with documentation for out-of-network benefits. Fees are collected through IvyPay, Zelle or cash.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you are unable to attend a session, please make sure you cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours beforehand.  If you cancel less than 24 hours in advance or do not show up for your appointment, you will be charged for the full rate of the session.

Do you offer reduced fee/sliding scale fees?

I reserve a limited number of sessions per week or month for reduced or sliding scale sessions. From time to time these spots free up. Please inquire about availability.

What is a Good Faith Estimate?

Under the No Surprises Act, you are entitled to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of what the charges could be for the services provided to you. It is not possible for a therapist to know, in advance, how many sessions may be necessary or appropriate for a given person upon the initiation of therapy. Your total cost of services will depend upon the number of sessions you attend, your individual circumstances, and the type and amount of services that are provided to you. This estimate is not a contract and does not obligate you to obtain any services listed, nor does it include any services rendered to you that are not identified here. If you receive a bill at least $400 more than your GFE, you may dispute or appeal the bill.

How often should we meet?

It is my policy that for the first several sessions we meet weekly to establish goals and determine if there is any crisis that needs to be worked through. If we assess that you are not in crisis and no longer need weekly sessions, we can progress to every other week.

My schedule is very unpredictable. Do you accommodate flexible scheduling or do we need the same time each week?

I work with many clients who require a flexible scheduling process due to work or family demands.

I value my privacy. Can you address confidentiality concerns?

As a licensed professional in the State of New York, I maintain the highest ethical standards of confidentiality as put forth in state and social work guidelines. We can discuss further any exceptions to the confidentiality code.
